Just they start to appear, we are sad to say that we will not be opening for snowdrops as planned, which was to be from 25th January.
We are very much hoping that it will be possible to open later in the season.
Meanwhile here’s a little clump of galanthus nivalis in a sunny spot earlier this week.
Walsingham Abbey Grounds and the Shirehall Museum are now closed for the winter.
We look forward to reopening when we can for snowdrop walks.
We are pleased to say that the Abbey Grounds can open under the new lockdown rules.
From Wednesday 4th November the Abbey Grounds will be open four days a week, until 21st November.
Our opening hours will be Wednesday to Saturday 11am-4pm. We will be closed from Sunday to Tuesday.
You may visit as one household or support bubble.
An individual may visit with one person from another household, plus babies and children under school age.
As indoor spaces must remain closed we cannot open the crypt or museum.
You are welcome to bring a picnic.
Dogs are welcome too (on leads please).
How encouraging it has been to see so many visitors enjoying the Abbey Grounds over the past few weeks.
From 2nd -21st November we will be open for four days a week: Wednesday-Saturday 11am-4pm. (Closed Sunday-Tuesday).
We close for the winter on 21st November, we hope to reopen as usual for snowdrops at the end of January 2021.
In line with government guidance, we are permitted to continue to admit more people in total but no one should visit us in a group of more than six people.
Groups of more than six people cannot be admitted unless you all live together (or are in the same support bubble)
You should avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with, even if you see other people you know.
We are pleased to say that we have been accredited with the Visit England ‘Good to Go’ Industry Standard mark.
Acquiring the Industry Standard mark means that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
We have put up distancing signpost reminders, installed hand sanitiser at the entrance and trained our staff in COVID hygiene precautions. Our admissions staff are protected by being inside what we call our ‘Wendy house’ with payment taken from behind a screen. We do not have pre booking facilities, but please be aware and comply with social distancing should a queue form.
We are pleased to be able to reopen on Saturday 4th July. We will be open from that date with our usual hours for this time of year, which are daily, 11am-4pm.
Admission will be at the High Street Gate. Card payments only please. See our visitor information for details.
