Closed for deep winter

The Abbey Grounds, Shirehall Museum and Prison are now closed for the winter.

We look forward to reopening at the earliest sign of spring, with the snowdrops,  from Monday 24th January.

Opening hours in November

From Friday 5th November to Monday 29th November inclusive, we will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am-4pm and Monday 11am-3.30pm.

The Abbey Grounds will be closed from Tuesday 30th November to Sunday 23rd January 2022.

We expect to be able to reopen for our 2022 snowdrop season from Monday 24th January but this will be confirmed nearer the time.

Admissions update

We have received a number of enquiries about pre booking.

There is no pre booking here, this includes Historic Houses members and the  Gardener’s World two-for-one card scheme. Please just present your card/cards at admissions in the usual way. We are taking card payments only.

Admission is at the High Street Gate in Little Walsingham, our striking 14th century gatehouse.

The gate is a couple of minutes’ walk from the Mill Car Park, 5 minutes from the coach park and a few steps round the corner from The Shirehall Museum in Common Place in Walsingham (our postal address).

Opening hours from May 31st 2021

We are pleased to say that from Monday May 31st we are extending our opening to Monday-Saturday.  Due to unforeseen circumstances we will however be closed on Wednesday 2nd June.

Visiting hours on Monday will be 11am-3.30pm. Tuesday -Saturday 11am-4pm. Entry at the High Street Gate. Card payments only.

We are now required to ask for contact details for everyone over 16 for NHS track and trace. The easiest way to do this is with the QR code on the posters at the entrance with the NHS Covid 19 app. Paper forms are available.

January 2021

Just they start to appear, we are sad to say that we will not be opening for snowdrops as planned, which was to be from 25th January.
We are very much hoping that it will be possible to open later in the season.
Meanwhile here’s a little clump of galanthus nivalis in a sunny spot earlier this week.
